5 Tips to Better Parenting

Raising children is one of the most taxing and frustrating task yet it is a fulfilling and rewarding task any human can attempt. It is true that most parents have difficulties increasing their children. Here are 5 tips to better parenting that I hope will help parents bring up their children without stress.

1. Seek Good Advice
Some first time parents may feel overwhelmed and unprepared for the job of parenting. Some may ask will I be able to train my child to become responsible adult. Yes you can. Advice from religious leaders will be useful. Instructions from religious leaders towards better parenting come from God. The Bible, for Christians and Koran for Muslims contain both direct advice and practical examples that can help parents become better parents.

2. Create a loving Home
All humans need love children inclusive. Children will not do well in a home without love. For children to grow up and become useful citizens show them love and spend quality time with them. If possible take your children with you where you go and that will create the opportunities to communicate naturally. Work together with your children on household projects. Eat meals and take trips together as a family and that will make children feel that they can express themselves freely.

3. Teach Your Children Proper Values
Parents need to teach their children how to distinguish right from wrong. Do not restrain from teaching them morals. Moral instructions is lacking in many homes today. Do not be tempted to believe that when children get older, they will be able to decide for themselves what values to accept. Children will excel academically when they are brought up by loving parents who support them yet maintain firm limits. Exercise your authority as a parent without becoming a tyrant. That means you should be reasonable in what you require of your children.

4. Spell Out Family Rules and Enforce Them Promptly
Your children will fare better with clear structure that they are aware of. Without rules in the family children become selfish, unhappy and they make other family members miserable too. It is true that at times children can be stubborn and selfish but by defining reasonable family limits to them they will follow them. Why not write down the family laws rules that you want your family members to obey. Also write down the consequences for breaking them and be willing to enforce the rules.

5. Be Reasonable
Reasonableness has to do with being fair, considerate and yielding without compromising family rules. Parents should let their reasonableness be seen by their children. Reasonableness will enable parents to help their children and not control their every action. Do not say no to all the requests made by your children rather look for ways to say yes. Look for opportunities for them to do things with other children. Ask your kids to join other kids in a party that you are aware of the circumances are approved.

Apply the above tips and be sure to raise children that you will be proud of.

Care Tips For Neckties

Whether expensive or not, proper care should be given to a necktie to prolong it's use. Here are some tips on how to properly take care of neckties:

Tip No. 1 – Always untie your necktie when not in use. Avoid making ready-to-wear, slip-on knotted necktie to avoid permanent creasing. Untie it if you're not using it; untie it before you put it back to your closet or wardrobe. Of course, doing so will require you to tie it again the next time. Quite an inconvenience considering that you could leave the tie that way and just slip it through your head again. But remember, the longer your tie is left knotted the harder it is to remove the crease.

Tip No. 2 – Reverse the knot to lighten the crease. From time to time you can tie your necktie the other way around to reverse the crease. The fiber and lining in the necktie are most affected.

Tip No. 3 – Remove your tie's knot properly. Do not pull the shorter end to avoid unnecessary stretching of the fabric.

Tip No. 4 – When storing them, silk neckties are best hung individually but if it's unavoidable, for example, when keeping them inside your travel luggage or drawer, you can also gently fold them. Either way, make sure you move them from time to time to avoid creasing too. Fold them gently and tuck them inside one of your luggage's pocket or roll them and put them in a small box instead.

Tip No. 5 – Keep your tie roled for 1 or 2 days to remove or lighten crease or leave it by itself for half a day.

Tip No. 6 – Do not tie your knots very tightly. Doing so avoid putting strain on the fabric that may cause persistent crease.

Tip No. 7 – Use a hand steamer. This is effective in removing tie's wrinkles where the knot is formed. But do this quickly and sparingly, sometimes once a month or every 2 months to avoid damaging your tie with heat and steam.

Tip No. 8 – Never send silk ties to dry cleaners. Yes, they can easily remove any stains but they also directly apply heat and press your tie flat, not to mention make your tie decrease its shine. Although for wool ties, dry clean is your best choice. Normal washing with soap and water may cause fabric shortening.

Tip No. 9. When ironing ties, make sure there is no steam involved and always do it on the back of the tie. Never iron your tie's front as it may decrease the luster of your tie and even cause permanent wrinkles. For silk neckties keep the temperature minimal but you can increase the temperature a little higher for polyester.

Tip No. 10 – Keep your ties in a dry and clean space to avoid humidity, mold, and insect bites. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight and sweat. These will decrease the tie's strength and sweat's dampness and acidity may damage the tie. Put insecticide inside your wardrobe or drawer to avoid insect attacks. Regardless of your ties fabric, small insects such clothes moths may chew away your ties.

Tips For Playing Lead Guitar

Playing lead guitar requires dedication and hard work. Here are some tips which will help you to make the best use of your practice time.

There are lots of techniques for playing lead guitar – vibrato, slides, bends, pull-offs and hammer-ons. You will have your preferences among the various techniques but you will need to become familiar with all of them if you want to be a colorful lead guitar player.

If you are wondering which techniques to practice, just get some CDs and videos of the style of music you want to play and the lead guitarists you most want to emulate. Take note of which techniques are used most heavily and if you need to be working more on chord playing or single note phrases.

As picking is a major component of lead guitar playing, special attention must be paid to the kind of picking practice you do. The basic rule is vary the way you use your pick. Practice using alternate up and down strokes. You can practice a basic major or minor blues scale going up and down with your pick as you go up and down the scale.

As you practice your technique for playing lead guitar you need to learn the notes of the scales. You will be using these scales when you are playing. To practice, you could download free backing tracks from the internet or record your own. Just a twelve bar blues sequence will do. As your backing track plays you play your scale, taking note of which notes sound right or wrong over which chord. Another way of using backing tracks is if you record rhythm tracks using single chords, for example a few minutes of a C chord, a few minutes of D, then G, and so on.

Practice slowly. This applies to all aspects of lead guitar playing. You do not PRACTICE playing guitar the way you want to actually PLAY the guitar. Speed comes naturally by itself as a result of slow practice. You need to be consistent with this – if you are new to playing lead guitar you will have to work on your patience a lot more than you expected to. There are different schools of thought about the use of the wrist or fingers for speed picking, but most guitarists recommend moving from the wrist.

Tips For Selling Insurance

Successful selling requires a process.  The process starts from identifying a potential client to completing the sale.  I’m not a particularly outgoing or charismatic person, but I’m one of the top new insurance salespeople in my network.  My success is not down to me being special in any way, but down to a 9-step process I almost always adhere to.  Here it is:

1. Process – sounds simple but it’s so important it’s worth mentioning – HAVE a process!  A process is simply a step by step approach that you follow for each sale.

2. Preparation – once you have identified a potential prospect e.g. from a client back, a lead you’ve bought or someone you know, find out as much about that person and their possible needs as you can.  If you know they already have certain financial products in place, make a note of them and where possible, be prepared with some quotes before you see them.

3. See them – where possible, go and see the person.  Insurance doesn’t sell itself and your sales conversion ratios will be much higher if you make an appointment to sit down with the client, preferably at the office or their home.  If you haven’t got a proven telephone script you can use for making appointments, make sure you get hold of one or contact me through my website at the bottom of this article.  Before you get off the phone, it’s a good idea to ask them to have any financial policies they have to hand for the meeting and also ask if there are any pressing priorities they would like to discuss, just so you’re well prepared.

4. Rapport – when you meet them, start with a smile and your business card and then spend some time building rapport.  If there’s anything which is topical (e.g. a topical news story) then that can be a great ice breaker.  Ask about their work, holidays, pets, the area they live, the children, the weather (always works in the UK!) etc.  The objective here is to make them feel at ease and NOT that you’re a high pressure salesperson looking to make a quick sale.  During this process, you will hopefully find what is important to them and what they might want to protect (insure) hint hint!.

5. Agenda – this one is often overlooked but very important.  Tell your potential client who you are, what you do and what you’re there for i.e. to understand their needs and priorities.

6. Establish Priorities – this is where you ask good questions and really listen to what’s important to them.  Ask them to expand on the REASONS why they want certain things and ask the ‘WHAT IF’ questions such as “what would happen if you lost your job?” or “what would happen if the you weren’t here, how would you wife/husband/partner/children get by?” etc.  If they tell you, then ask them to qualify by asking a question like “how would that work?”.  This is the process by which you uncover their insurance needs – the things they would want to protect.  The important point here is THEY HAVE TOLD YOU – you haven’t told them.

7. Agreement – if you have established a need, the next step is to get agreement from your potential client that there is a need for insurance protection and that they are prepared to do something about it i.e. buy an insurance policy.  Once you have this agreement, you can then let them know you will come up with 1 or more potential solutions.  You might also want to establish what the potential clients’ budget is to cover the need.  A good final question could be “Mr/Mrs Client, if I could give you the cover you need for £££ would you be happy to go ahead with the policy?”.

8. Solution – when you’re ready to present the solution (either at the same meeting or a second appointment) just remind your potential client of their need – this re-establishes their motivation for buying a policy.  If appropriate, come up with 2 or 3 solutions for example, one with the full level of cover they require, one with the minimum (which could be their budget) and one somewhere in the middle.  Give them an element of control about what they choose.

9. Close – be assumptive and simply ask them for the details you require to pass the stage on to the underwriting company.  Importantly, explain what will happen next, what paperwork they can expect to receive, how long it will take etc.  Make sure you have any forms with you that you need signing e.g. medical report form, trust form etc.  This is also a good time to ask for referrals.  A good question could be “do you have any friends or family that might want a review or save money?”.

I advise you to practice the above process until it become a habit, until it becomes natural.  You might want to modify it in parts to fit your own or your clients’ circumstances but it really does work.

Tips For Planting Roses

The perfect time for planting roses is when spring is on its way and the ground is soft. Roses are a favorite flower to plant because they smell fantastic and look beautiful. However, roses can not be planed everywhere or in one particular climate. Roses need particular care and treatment. The following are some tips to grow roses successfully.

1. Roses require at least six hours of direct sunlight for best results in flowering and growth. You'll want to choose a location to plant that does not have shade from buildings or trees, so this way the plant can receive the maximum amount of sunshine. You also do not want to plant roses near any trees or shrubs that will compete for moisture and nutrients. Make sure there is plenty of space to allow plenty of air flow. Also, take into consideration water drainage to or from the planting area. Reason being is roses grow better in soil that is drained well and do not do as well with standing water around where their roots are.

2. Roses flourish in garden soil that is drained well. Most soils benefit from adding organic matter. This will allow water to drain through it, allows oxygen and carbon dioxide to move freely between spaces within the soil and the air above, and allows plants to hold more nutrients. Organic matter can consist of compost, fine grain potting bark, animal manure that is aged for 6 months to a year, or other sources. Mix the organic matter into the soil with a shovel to about 12 inches deep.

3. The spacing of the plants will vary according to the way the rose plant will grow. If you plant them too close together, the plant will be tall and thin and will only have a few small flowers. Here are some general spacing guidelines:

Hybrid Tea & Grandiflora – 30 to 36 inches apart
English Rose – 36 inches apart
Climber – 4 to 5 feet apart
Miniature – 12 to 18 inches apart

4. Dig a hole large enough for the size of the root ball. Remember to loosen the soil in the bottom of the hole. Make sure to place the roses in the hole carefully. The hole should then be refilled with the soil making sure the roots are completely covered. Before you finish covering the rose, make sure to water it. You'll then want to mound the soil to make it about eight inches around the plant base. This way you'll keep the stems of the plant from drying out until the plant is fully rooted. As the leaves start to open, you can then remove the excess soil from around the plant.

These are some tips to keep in mind when you plant your roses. It takes a little time and effort, but will be most enjoyable when your roses start to bloom and look fantastic and smell wonderful.

Tips For Drying Herbs

Herbs are not only used for seasoning foods, but for medicinal purposes, teas, perfumes, and potpourri.

Nearly all herbs are perennials, dying down each year and returning the following season. I have found that thyme, particularly, needs pruning fairly hard to keep its bushy shape, so that you have nice young leaves and juicy stems to use. If left to their own devices the stems can become straggly, woody and dry. Basil is an exception to this rule, needing to be planted fresh each year.

Herbs growing in pots can be purchased from supermarkets now. You can either leave them in the pot or re-plant in the garden. Either way it is a quicker route than planting from seed, obviously.

Most herbs can be dried for use in teas, or to delicately flavor foods. They retain their fresh flavor for up to six months or more if stored in a dry, dark, cool spot.

Herb and spice shelves should not be near stoves or refrigerators. Heat from cooking diminishes flavors, as does the heat diffused from the outside of a refrigerator. If a dark cabinet is not available, store the herbs in tinted jars or wrap the jars in decorative dark paper.

Label and date herbs as they are prepared or purchased so that you can keep track of their freshness. When in doubt – smell. If the odor is dusty with only a faint aroma, it will not be much good adding them to your food and they should be discarded.

Basil, mint, chives, rosemary, sage, thyme, coriander, sweet marjoram, Lemon Balm ( Melissa ) and chervil can all be grown in your garden during the summer, or in containers on your window sill. Basil, particularly, is frost tender and should be protected at night as soon as the weather starts to cool down.

Herbs can be preserved for culinary purposes in several different ways, chopped and frozen, wrapped in small plastic bags for use as needed, or in ice cube trays covered in water and frozen. Just one or two cubes dropped into your soup or casserole is a quick and easy way to add seasoning.

A small bundle of mixed herbs can be discharged by tying them together and suspending them from a line inside the house. Do not dry them in the direct sun. They can also be discharged in the oven, dehydrator or a microwave.

For oven drying, wash the leaves gently and blot dry. Place on oven rack in the lowest possible temperature and leave the oven door ajar. Herbs need an even lower temperature than fruit and vegetables. Dry until crisp, but do not overdry.

For the dehydrator , spread the washed leaves on the shelves and dry at about 110 ° -120 ° F.

For the microwave more care is needed. Place the washed, blotted leaves onto absorbent paper and dry on the medium high setting for 30 seconds at a time. The fleshier the leaves the more time will be needed. Turn the leaves regularly and again, do not overdry.

Herbs will keep their flavor longer if the leaves are stored whole, rather than chopped or ground. Crumble the leaves just before use for maximum flavor.

When making tea, one teaspoonful of the crumbled leaves, steeped for 5 to 10 minutes in a cup of hot (not boiling) water will make a flavorful drink. The addition of honey and / or lemon juice also enhances the flavor and nutrition.

The extra flavor of carefully washed and stored herbs is far superior to those bought off the shelf. It is well worth the small effort involved.

Making Love Tips – Getting Rid of Boredom

When we are in the throes of lovemaking, nothing else matters, it is a magical experience where we forget all of our cares and worries, it is as if time itself stands still. The act of sex in itself is a very important part of relationships, and a relationship without it is doomed to fail. Knowing some basic making love tips can help.

One of the most common causes of relationship failure is a lack or dissatisfaction in the love life. It could be that the physical attraction is not there any more, or the sexual contact itself becomes repetitive and boring.

The purpose of this article is to recognize the signs of beginning problems, and take the steps to reverse them. Having problems with physical intimacy in a relationship does not have to mean a end to the relationship itself. All relationships will run into problems at one point or another in fact in a recent poll by the Journal of the American Medical Association, nearly 43% of women and 31% of men polled were sexually dysfunctional.

One complaint that I hear often from couples is that one partner or the other is feeling pressure into having sex. Sex is a two way street, and if both partners are not enjoying the act, problems will soon arise. Open communication is the key to resolving the pressure issue, couples must communicate, and a agreement must be met that is satisfactory to both parties. Pushing the other into doing something they do not enjoy will create problems in the sexual intimate department.

Another complaint that is common among couples is boredom or a lack of interest in sex. The number one cause of boredom in the bedroom is routines. Routines start forming when the couple stops trying out new things, and exploring new aspects of sexuality. Boredom is one of the easiest of the problems to fix, it is a simple matter of trying out new things such as new positions, or new places to have sex.

Some quick making love tips that you and your partner can do to put an end to the boredom are as follows:

  • Make love in a different room in your house every night, until all of the rooms are christened.
  • Leave sensitive, teasing notes for your partner to find.
  • Give your partner a sensual massage.
  • Take a bath or shower together.
  • Put a blanket out in your backyard on a clear night and share a bottle of wine.
  • Buy a lovemaking technique book, and read it with your partner.
